POSITION OVERVIEW

The Associate Director, Advisory Services, plays a key role in delivering on our mission by helping to lead our consulting services on the East Coast, including managing consulting projects on human rights, supply chain due diligence, and sustainability, managing and empowering our East Coast based team of consultants, and working with our leadership team to build our supply chain and sustainability practice as regulatory standards evolve.

The ideal candidate will be full of exciting ideas to advance the field and eager to work with their team to turn them into a reality.

The Associate Director role is a full-time position based in New York or Washington DC with a flexible / remote work set up. The salary range for this position is USD100,000-135,000, depending on level and experience. The role may require up to 10% travel for fieldwork related to projects and regional conferences. We will only consider candidates who are authorized to work in the US.

RESPONSIBILITIES

As the Associate Director, Advisory Services, you will contribute to our mission through the following responsibilities. Please note for a Manager candidate we would expect more focus on project management implementation and less on regional leadership.

Project Management & Implementation

  • Managing dynamic client projects, including:
    • Serving as primary day-to-day contact for key Article One clients
    • Leading project teams
    • Managing project budgets and timelines
    • Contributing to and reviewing deliverables
  • Providing expert analysis and insights in key practice areas such as:
    • Human rights impact assessments and strategy
    • Supply chain responsibility
    • Alignment with mandatory due diligence regulations such as EU CSDDD
    • Stakeholder engagement
    • Sustainability strategy and reporting.

Regional Leadership

  • Managing a team of East Coast based consultants
  • Contributing to Article One’s global strategy
  • Contributing to business development efforts, including writing project proposals, and developing innovative opportunities to support existing clients
  • Leading local and regional networking and learning events on the East Coast.
  • Contributing to Article One’s thought leadership agenda including via white papers, blogs and speaker roles at external conferences

QUALIFICATIONS

You bring empathy and a passion for client service, expertise on business and human rights, the CSDDD, CSRD, and other new human rights and environmental due diligence and disclosure regulations, and sustainability. You believe in the power of business to drive positive impacts and will thrive in an entrepreneurial environment.  Specific expectations include:

  • Demonstrated expertise in business and human rights, regulatory alignment, and sustainability
  • At least ten years of relevant experience, including in consulting or professional services, with at least five years of project management experience.
  • Proven and demonstrated track record of success managing client relationships or corporate programs in Article One’s practice areas
  • Strong project management skills, including the ability to manage multiple, disparate projects simultaneously
  • Strong business development skills, including managing long term impact driven client relationships
  • Experience managing people and furthering their career development
  • Master’s degree in a relevant field, particularly Law, Business, Sustainability, Environment, or another relevant field
  • Excellent communication skills, including writing, presentation, and meeting facilitation
  • Ability to undertake business travel about 10% of the time, including international travel
  • High ethical standards, passion for promoting responsible business practices, and a humble, collaborative, and empathetic approach to engagements with colleagues and clients
